Maker Space + DIY Events Venue + Open Kitchen What is the Waiting Room?
A DIY Venue providing shared access to a presentation and performance space for people to self organise gigs and events.
A physical workshop with a growing list of tools and equipment for local artists and makers.
An Open Kitchen for up-and-coming chefs and food producers to develop their skills and prototype new ideas.
Our do-it-yourself cooperative ethos means we can try new things, take risks and provide a home for unique, cutting-edge, alternative content – stuff you don’t get elsewhere.
Every penny you spend at our events is reinvested directly into developing our workshop, venue and open kitchen, to support local makers and artists.
Another set from the Archives: As we approach the NYE – The Waiting Room Final Showdown we've been thinking about all our great Bar Team – every one of them have pulled pints and served drinks, for love and appreciation of our ethos and vision to create something different for our home town. Here are some photos of some of that team. If you have a story of memory to share, post it here: http://st-botolphs.org/waiting-room-stories
From Firstsite YAK to all the families with Children that popped in for Good Souls Bakery on a Saturday... one thing we've taken away from our time at The Waiting Room is that, with increased funding pressures, we all need to do much more for young people in Colchester – St Botolphs and 'The Cultural Quarter' should be for them too. They are our future...
As this is our penultimate event before we say goodbye on NYE – The Waiting Room Final Showdown, we're rounding up the troops for a few Xmas drinks & cheer! It will be good to see you all especially if you can't make NYE! The bar will be open as usual & please feel free to bring in your own takeaway. All are welcome!
Happy New Year! Thank you to everyone who made it to our Daytime Do or Final Showdown last night to see the building and 2016 off in style. Rest easy and much love :) Image Credit (Limited edition print by St Botolph's Letterpress final few available for £5 to help fundraise for their relocation)

Huge congratulations go out to Jess Noy aka The Gamekeeper's Daughter today for picking up Young Chef of 2017 at last night's Suffolk Food & Drinks Awards. Lots of hard graft and commitment to get to this point – onwards and upwards! Go follow.
We've updated our website with a single page containing a list of our community partners, resident chefs and regular contributors. Go follow... help our beautiful little community to continue to grow… …beyond the Waiting Room
